overview
Enter a world of enchantment at this fairytale-themed mini putt event, created in collaboration with the City of Mississauga and the Hazel McCallion Central Library. By day, enjoy a whimsical, family-friendly adventure—by night, step into the Grimm Brothers’ fairytales.
How might we... create an activity-based experience that blends the storytelling of fairytales with interactive and educational design.
THE EXPERIENCE
Site Visualizations
To visualize the scale of the golf courses within the site, I created two architectural sketches in both 1-point and 2-point perspective, highlighting key components like the check-in hut, fences, and the golf courses themselves.
Golf Courses
Using a "top 8 children's fairytales" article, I created conceptual collages shaped like the golf courses, each themed around popular fairytales from the Hazel McCallion Central Library. The isometric illustrations show the course's transformation from day to night, with this example depicting Little Red Riding Hood.
GOLF COURSE PROTOTYPE
This interactive model of the Little Red Riding Hood story golf course was designed in Adobe Illustrator, laser cut, and assembled into a miniature playable course, featuring interchangeable pieces for the day-to-night transformation.
Research & Planning:
In the project's early stages, I conducted precedent research to inspire key components of the golf course design, aiming to create a space that transforms between day and night for families and teens/young adults. I developed an annotated site plan highlighting locations, opportunities, and access points to better understand the site and key areas for advertising. Additionally, I created a 1:2000 full site plan and a 1:530 plan focused on the main area to showcase the golf course's scale. Lastly, I created a materials matrix outlining the materials for the golf courses and their sustainable considerations.
